19.09.2013

Mayor of Nis, prof. Zoran Perisic, president of municipality of Palilula Boban Džunić and assembly deputy Milan Lapčević, visited the safe house in Nis. This facility, which is located in Palilula, recently received a grant from Telecom, which consists of five computers, a printer and scanner, as well as furniture for the so-called. "Computer room", in which residents of the safe house will acquire knowledge of computer skills and look for a job online. As stated by the director of the institution Sonja Šćekić, management of the safe house is working on several other projects in order to make staying in the safe house more comfortable for users.

We have signed the Grant Contract with the NGO from Denmark worth 4 thousand euros for making workshops for children in which the youngest tenants of the safe house can play during winter. We set up a fence, fixed the yard, and we are planning and arranging ground of the building for the dining room, as we currently have only two small kitchen stoves, said the Director of safe house Sonja Šćekić. The mayor Perišić said that he was pleased with the work of employees in the facility and that the City of Niš will do everything to make the users of the safe house feel comfortable as much as possible.

Unfortunately, people sometimes find themselves in a no-win situation, and it is for us to show that we are socially responsible, and that people who find themselves in a bad situation need to feel that they are not alone, that there is someone who cares about them and to help them to get along "on their feet". Also, we will find a way to help both victims of trafficking and the plan is to arrange a room for them, said Perisic.

President of Municipality of Palilula Boban Džunić stated that the Municipality in cooperation with the city is doing everything to be closer to the citizens and to assist them to the extent possible.

Near the safe house we will soon reconstruct old building in order to open the police station, announced Mayor Perisic and president of Municipality of Palilula Boban Džunić. Džunić pointed out that in this way the safety of women who are staying in a safe house will be at a higher level. He said he was happy with the safe house management and that Municipality of Palilula is available to support the activities.

The Safe House is currently housing fifteen users, including six women and nine children although this number is variable each week. Over the last week, the facility was located by 25 users. Otherwise, the safe house has a capacity to accommodate 25 tenants. (ЕКОполис мрежа Д.В)
